Manomet Conservation Sciences
Conservation Organization Achieves National Recognition
Manomet Conservation Sciences, based in Plymouth, Massachusetts, had world-class science and proven conservation results across shorebirds, fisheries and science education — but limited national visibility. Major successes, including the multi-state American Oystercatcher Recovery Initiative, were under-recognized outside expert circles. The challenge was to bring Manomet’s impact to national audiences in order to catalyze funding and accelerate growth.
The Objectives
- Establish narratives for complex scientific achievements by creating pitches that are compelling and accessible.
- Focus on global science teams as the go-to experts for shorebird conservation and fisheries through proactive and reactive media opportunities.
- Provide crisis communications expertise during a high-profile organizational loss to protect reputation.
Media Results
- 7 stories after two months of engagement
- 2 stories on Shorebird Blitz
- 7 stories on American Oystercatcher Recovery
- 3 stories on rare bird discoveries
Testimonial
What I love about Dorie is that she has the skills and network to deliver unprecedented exposure. Not only does she know precisely what makes a story pitchable, but she has the ability to reach out to her network to sell the vision...which results in coverage that we never have had. Her ability to position Manomet's science for national audiences has elevated our science and brought our work to a much broader stage.
